UK Weather Forecast: A yellow alert has been issued for many parts of the UK, warning of strong winds and heavy rain across much of the country. Heavy rain and strong winds are expected in areas of northeastern England, northwestern England, southwestern Scotland, Strathclyde, Yorkshire and the Humber, Central, Teesside, and Fife, as well as Northern Ireland. The Met Office said flooding and power outages are possible for homes, businesses, and roads. There is also a slight chance of high flows or deep water that could be “life-threatening.”
Heavy rain alerts have been issued for much of the UK over the next few days, with flooding and travel delays likely in the hardest-hit areas. A new low-pressure area is expected to intensify the rain over the weekend.
Localised flooding and driving difficulties are possible in some areas, especially as the rain intensifies. Some places in the mountains could receive up to 100-150 mm of rain. Northern Ireland is close to this front, so the weather in the far southeast could be pretty wet, though perhaps not as moist as it has been in the past week or two.
Wet and windy weather in Scotland is expected to ease, giving way to more rain gradually. Southeast England, the Midlands, and East Anglia are expected to experience even warmer weather over the next few days, with temperatures reaching 26 degrees Celsius in some areas on Friday.
According to the Met Office, pulses of heavy rain are possible first thing on Friday for counties surrounding the Irish Sea.
In a statement released online, the Met Office explained, “Be prepared for rapid changes in weather warnings: When a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying updated with the weather forecast for your area.”
A heavy rain alert has been issued for 21 hours, from 9 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday. The weather department has predicted that there will be around 20 to 40 mm of rain, while some areas may receive up to 100 mm of rain.
