In the Midlands, Ceredigion, Conwy, Gwynedd, and Powys are expected to be the most severely affected areas. At the same time, anyone living in Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Carmarthenshire, Merthyr Tydfil, Neath Port Talbot, Powys, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Swansea, or the Vale of Glamorgan in southwest Wales has been advised to prepare for adverse weather conditions.
UK Weather Alert
According to the Met Office, “Heavy rain on Wednesday may cause flooding in some areas. Light to heavy rain is expected across south and southwest Wales on Wednesday morning. Rain is likely to continue for most of the day. Some locations, particularly those on the southwest-facing hills, may receive 30-40 mm of rain, with 50-70 mm of rain expected.
“Flooding may occur in some homes and businesses. People may experience some difficulties venturing outside due to splashing and flooding on roads.
Bus and train services may be affected, and journey times may be longer. Some disruption to power supplies and other services is expected.”
Natural Resources Wales has issued several flood alerts, including some in the two areas already under weather warnings. Rivers in the Upper Towy catchment in Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire, and the surrounding Llangennech, Pwll, and Burry Port areas are of grave concern.
